Bert Kreischer Reading reviews
Bert knows how to take care of his audience
First off, let me just say how great of a venue Old National Events Plaza is the great atmosphere it has for its size. The staff was professional, worked fast, and as always, very friendly. From what I could gather, it was a very nice turnout for the show. If it weren't a sold out show, it was very close to that and the crowd was super into the show from the opening comic to the main event, Bert Kreischer. The opener (forgive me for not recalling his name) was very funny and did a great job of priming the crowd. And then Bert came on and did his signature move of immediately removing his shirt which, even though we were expecting it, caused everyone to immediately rise to their feet and start going nuts!
I could tell right away that Bert had been "pregaming" earlier in the day and was made evident when he recounted his adventures at The Ford Center to take in an Evansville Thunderbolts hockey game. Makes me very sad to know that I missed his rousing rendition of "Sweet Caroline." Regardless, the story was hilarious, his enthusiasm was very high and obvious through his mild inebriation. He blistered through his set with giddiness and laughter that can only be compared to a high school friend having a hard time containing himself while he tells you a funny story he heard. The fact that Bert makes himself laugh so much to tears with his own material shows you a comic who is out there having a blast with his "road family," the fans who pay to see him. His hilarious put on of disdain for his wife and daughters comes across with so much fun and earnestness that you can't help but relate your own personal life to his and life right along. The bit about the silent auction at his daughter's school was so funny and so well told, you found yourself excited for each setup. Bert also showed a very warm, emotional side recounting the story of having to put their family dog down after years of illness. It was touching and hilarious and reminiscent of wakes I experienced in my own family with human family members. I was connected and focused on each bit and each punchline as the night went on.
And of course, in true Bert fashion, he closed his show with "The Machine." Nothing else need be said...he's The Machine.
The show was fantastic. The venue was immaculate. The crowd was totally into it. Bert Kreischer + The Old National Events Plaza = 100% Fun. I cannot wait till he returns for his next show, for I will have my tickets well in advance and ready to have another exciting evening of laughs
